Saudi Arabia has launched heavy air strikes on rebels in northern Yemen and is moving troops closer to the border.
The offensive came two days after Yemeni insurgents raided into Saudi Arabia, killing one Saudi soldier. Saudi officials say their air force bombed Yemeni rebels who seized a border area inside the kingdom.
The officials say at least 40 rebels have been killed in the fighting.
The rebel's spokesman confirm Saudi airstrikes hit six locations in their stronghold in Yemen. But the Yemeni government is denying any military action by Saudi Arabia inside its borders.
The rebels, known as Hawthis, intensified their battle with Yemeni government forces during the past few months.
