Germany has marked the twentieth anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. That historic day sent East Germans flooding to the West, and set in motion events that soon led to the country's reunification.

A metaphor for the fall of the Berlin Wall on November 9th, 20 years ago.

One thousand dominoes tumbled along nearly a-mile-long stretch from the Brandenburg Gate to the Potzdam Platz, once the best-known section of the Wall.

It was the finale to a day of events marking the anniversary.

Leaders of all 27 EU countries as well as Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton were in Berlin for the ceremonies.

Angela Merkel, German Chancellor, said, "For me, it was one of the happiest moments of my life. The Germany, the Europe, indeed the world, which were divided into two blocks, were brought together. Finally, the end of Cold War had arrived."
