Poland celebrates 91st independence anniversary‎

The 91st anniversary of Polish independence has been celebrated at various events held throughout the country.

On Wednesday, thousands of Warsaw residents marked the anniversary in one of the city's main squares. Referring to current political issues in a speech at the ceremony, Polish President Lech Kac-zyn-ski said the Lisbon Treaty defines the EU as a tight-knit union of independent states, each having a separate identity, history and politics.

Poland regained independence on November the 11th, 1918 after 123 years of partition and reappeared on the map of Europe.
