On Monday morning, the second day of his China trip, Barack Obama met with Shanghai Party chief, Yu Zhengsheng.

Yu Zhengsheng said that Shanghai has played an important role in the history of Sino-US relations. He believes that Obama's visit will be conducive to dialogue, communication, and cooperation between the two countries. Yu Zhengsheng expressed hopes of strengthening cooperation with the US in advanced manufacturing, modern services, and the green economy.

President Obama said he is impressed with Shanghai's rapid development, and hopes to enhance cooperation in the finance, trade, and clean energy sectors. He also wants to promote communication between Shanghai and its two sister cities, Chicago and San Francisco.
