Two of China's giant pandas are preparing for a diplomatic mission that will last for a decade. The pair will arrive at Adelaide zoo in South Australia by the end of this year. They will spend 10-years on loan there for research purposes.

Four-year-old Wang Wang and three-year-old Fu Ni are currently living at the Ya'an Giant Panda Reserve in China's southwest Sichuan province. Their trip to Australia was arranged during Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang's visit to the country earlier this month. The giant panda is one of the world's most endangered species and is only found in the wild in China.

An estimated 16-hundred wild pandas live in their natural habitat in China's Sichuan, Gansu and Shaanxi provinces. Another 210 live in captivity, over half of which are at the Ya'an reserve.
