Israeli President Shimon Peres and his Egyptian counterpart Hosni Mubarak, have called for a resumption of peace talks between Israelis and the Palestinians. Peres, says once negotiations restart, Israel will not build any new Jewish settlements or seize land to expand existing ones. Mubarak, warns that Israel would become "an enemy of every Muslim" if it doesn't resolve the dispute over the status of Jerusalem.

Peres and Mubarak spoke at a joint news conference following their talks in Cairo on Sunday.

Peres claims that once negotiations between the Israelis and Palestinians begin, all the outstanding differences would be resolved. He insists that Israel's construction of Jewish settlements is a marginal issue which can be solved through negotiations.

Shimon Peres said, "There is one issue that remained that we have to settle and I think there are ways to do so. Unfortunately it is a marginal issue, this is some buildings of houses, that became a central issue for wrong reasons. My answer is even this issue can be settled by negotiations and agreement."
