Britain and France are proposing to tackle climate change with a 30 billion US dollar environmental fund.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy made the announcement after joining the Commonwealth meeting in Trinidad and Tobago. Sarkozy said the money will be spent from 2010 to 2012. He also said that France will propose the creation a new UN body called the World Environment Organization, whose main task would be to implement the agreement that emerges from the Copenhagen meeting. The French President added that the world's most industrialized nations must do more because of their history of development.
