South Korean President, Lee Myung-bak, said he is willing to hold a summit with the DPRK's top leader Kim Jong Il.
During a television broadcast, Lee said he would be prepared to meet somewhere other than Seoul if it helped de-nuclearize the Korean peninsula. Lee also said he wanted assurances from the DPRK that the nuclear standoff would be discussed if a summit were held. In October, South Korean media reported that the two Koreas held a secret meeting in Singapore, to discuss a possible summit, but the talks broke down.
