Lawmakers have finally reached a consensus on a long-awaited election law, that will govern next year's vote.

For months, Iraqi lawmakers have been struggling to pass the necessary amendments. They're trying to reform the election process to make it more representative for Iraqis in and outside the country.

Leaders of political blocs, agreed that the number of seats in the next parliament will be 325 seats 50 more than the current number.

Earlier, Iraq's Sunni Vice President Tariq al-Hashimi vetoed the bill, demanding more seats in the next parliament for Iraqis living abroad, most of whom are Sunni Arabs.
