Snowstorms over the weekend disrupted public transport and air travel. About 25 centimeters of snow fell in southeast Massachusetts early Sunday morning. Blizzards triggered more than 7,000 power outages in the state's Cape Cod peninsula.

The governors of several states, including Virginia, Kentucky, Maryland and Delaware have declared a state of emergency to cope with the heavy snowfall.
