Pro-government rallies have been held in Iran's central city of Isfahan and others across the country, to support the government which is facing mounting protests from the opposition.
Demonstrators held posters of the former and current supreme leaders of Iran. They chanted slogans condemning anti-government protests and their assaulting on Ashura day, a Shiite holiday.
Iran's State TV said over three hundred people were arrested in Tehran during opposition protests. A website said the government had arrested at least 10 leading opposition figures on Monday.
