Europe freezes in sub-zero weather

Severe winter weather is gripping parts of Europe, with freezing temperatures, icy roads and heavy snow.

In the city of Hannover, in northern Germany, meteorologists have forecast temperatures as low as minus 20 degrees Celsius for the next few nights. Snowfalls are expected to continue until the end of the week.

In Poland, temperatures have dropped to minus 25 degrees Celsius in the northeast. A band of snow is heading towards London from northern Scotland. Temperatures there are ranging between minus five and zero degrees Celsius.
