Observers Ukrainian presidential elections fair

The head of the European Parliament's, observer mission for the Ukrainian presidential elections, says the election carried out over the weekend was conducted in line with international standards. Despite accusations of large-scale election fraud in the days leading up to Sunday's vote, officials and election observers have widely praised the ballot as fair and orderly.

Joao Soares, president of Osce Parliamentary Assn., said, "This election was a very good election, it was election of high quality, it offered the voters genuine choice between candidates and it showed significant progress over previous elections. It met OSCE commitments and demonstrated respect for civil and political rights"

Pawel Kowal, head of The European Observer Mission, said, "I think the violations that have been confirmed have not influenced the results of the election."
