In Ukraine, preliminary results of Sunday's elections are trickling in. Viktor Yanukovich's lead in Sunday's presidential election narrowed on Monday morning to little more than 2 percentage points over his rival, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, who's refusing to concede defeat.

With nearly 99 percent of the votes counted, the results issued by the Central Election Commission show 48.64 to Yanukovich and 45.78 to Tymoshenko.

Some 2,000 people were rallying outside Ukraine's Central Election Commission on Monday morning to show support for Viktor Yanukovich.

Ukrainian voter Ina Nadezhda said, "I don't know the results yet, but I support Yanukovich, and I only want Yanukovich to be in power."

People in the street in the capital Kiev had mixed views reflecting the close result.

Ukrainian voter said, "I dislike the first results, because I do not consider Mr. Yanukovich to be the one who's able to represent the country."

Ukrainian voter said,"I think it is for the courts to decide, in case of uncertainty. Today, I don't think people will go to Maidan Square as they did in 2004. The hopes of the people then were not fulfilled."

Tymoshenko denied Yanukovich victory in a 2004 election through mass protests that she led. She has threatened to challenge the result in court or bring her supporters out on the streets again if there is any evidence of fraud.
