The Greek government's plans to cut deficits involve wage freezes and the cutting of supplemental wage allowances in the public sector.

Civil service unions have protested against the measures, saying they are unwilling to pay for the economic crisis. Their strike caused the cancellation of flights, trains, and ferries.

Air traffic controllers, customs and tax officials, hospital doctors, and school teachers walked out from their jobs for 24 hours. They are protesting against wage and recruitment freezes and the cutting of supplemental wage allowances in the public sector.
