American Airlines has flown the first commercial passenger flight into Haiti since the January the 12th earthquake. The flight has marked the reopening of major commercial airline links with the Caribbean country.

Flight AA 377 from Miami, a Boeing 737 carrying 136 passengers, touched down at Toussaint L'ouverture airport in Port-au-Prince on Friday.

The pilots waved the Haitian flag to celebrate their arrival since the nation was struck by the magnitude 7 quake.

More American Airlines flights were also scheduled to arrive in the capital on Friday, along with a flight from Air France.
