Relief items worth 2 million US dollars have left China for quake-hit Chile. The aid includes 700 tents, 10 thousand woollen blankets, 100 portable power generators and two water purification units. The Chinese government has already sent 1 million US dollars in financial assistance to Chile.

Geng Yansheng, China's Defense Ministry, said, "In view of Chile's high latitude, and the weather now is becoming colder, the tents we provided this time are cotton-padded. Meanwhile, we also created a record for delivering relief material to the most remote place."
