An Australian anti-whaling vessel has received a warm welcome home from supporters after three months at sea. But also waiting were federal police officers who boarded the ship for a search.

The Sea Shepherd ended its summer campaign against the Japanese whaling fleet. It returned to Hobart on Saturday and was greeted by a crowd of well wishers. But Australian federal officers were also there armed with a search warrant.

The captain and the leader of the Australian political Green Party were angry with the search, saying the federal government has caved in to pressure from the Japanese.
