The United States and South Korea have conducted a battle simulation, during the two country's annual joint military exercises. The combined armies opened up their simulation room to media.

They demonstrated their abilities to cope with possible enemy attacks. U.S. Army General Walter Sharp, commander of U.S. forces in South Korea, said that Special Forces to cope with the DPRK's nuclear arsenal were participating in the drill. The commander said South Korea and the US had a shared responsibility to deal with the threat from the DPRK's weapons of mass destruction.

He said they will co-operate closely on locating, securing and eliminating the weapons. The drills, which form part of the defense of South Korea, started Monday and will last until the end of the month. The DPRK says the exercises constitute nuclear war maneuvers. Pyongyang says it has placed its army on full combat alert.
