US President, Barack Obama, has said the country's high unemployment rate could tumble, following encouraging new jobs data. But he warned it would still take time to achieve sustained job growth.

Obama welcomed findings from the latest labor report. It said non-farm payroll employment increased by 162-thousand jobs, the most in three years.

Speaking to workers at a battery components plant in North Carolina, the President said the stimulus plan has helped the country climb out of economic recession. Despite his optimism, Obama remained cautious.
