Denmark's famed Little Mermaid statue has arrived in Shanghai, where it will be displayed at the World Expo. Elsewhere, other countries are gearing up to impress an international audience with their own unique pavilions.

The Little Mermaid will be one of the big attractions when the World Expo opens in just under a month. It arrived in Shanghai on Friday, and will be kept in storage at a warehouse until it settles into its new home at the Danish Pavilion.

It is the first time the one and a half-meter landmark has left her perch at Copenhagen harbor.

Visitors interested in Chinese culture, are expected to flock to the Suzhou Pavilion. With white walls, greyish tiles and ancient-style arch bridges, the pavilion is a mini-version of the two and a half thousand-year-old city criss-crossed by rivers and canals.
