Global community "deeply concerned" over Kyrgyz situation

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon says he is "shocked" by the deadly clashes in Kyrgyzstan and is appealing for concerned parties to show restraint.

China is also expressing its deep concern over the situation and expects order could be restored as soon as possible.

Earlier, Russia urged Kyrgyz authorities and opposition leaders to resolve their dispute through democratic means instead of violence.

The U.S is also having their say encouraging government and protestors to begin negotiations as soon as possible.

At least 17 people were killed and 180 others were injured in clash between police and opposition protesters in the capital city of Bishkek Wednesday, the Health Ministry said.
