In Brazil, at least 200 people have been buried and are feared dead by the latest landslide that hit a shantytown in Rio de Janeiro's metropolitan area.

A local security chief says 60 houses and at least 200 people were buried in the town neighboring Rio. Six bodies have been found so far and 28 rescued after the mudslide hit late Wednesday.

Local TV showed images of desperate residents searching through debris and carrying those who survived the landslide from under the rubble.

Record rainfall triggered recent deadly mudslides in Brazil's second biggest city.
