Poland was gripped by grief at the weekend.

The sadness reached its peak on Sunday when President Kaczynski's body returned home.

Families and political dignitaries were present at Warsaw's military airport to witness the moment.

Tens of thousands of mourners silently lined the ten-kilometer route leading to the presidential palace.

The President's coffin is expected to be publicly displayed until a funeral date is announced.
