Special Report: 7.1-magnitude Quake Hit Qinghai, China |

Emergency crews are working frantically to clear and repair roads to the quake-hit regions. The main routes used for delivering relief materials have been running smoothly.

National Highway 214 is the most important route leading to Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture. The northern section of the national highway, between Xining and Jie-gu-duan, is still open. Vehicles can slowly pass between the section linking Yan-kou-shan to Jie-shi-duan, despite earlier landslides. The highway's Tong-tian-he Bridge is also open, as it was unaffected by the quake.

However, the western section of Provincial Highway 308 has been severely hit, with small vehicles being redirected to another road. Meanwhile, the road leading to Yushu Airport has reopened after hours of repair. Transport departments have stepped up efforts to ensure traffic proceeds smoothly along main routes to the disaster zone. The central government has pledged 10 million yuan to repair quake-hit roads.
