Foreign trade picks up in March

04-13-2016 16:39 BJT

China's exports in March regained growth for the first time in nine months, adding to signs of stabilisation in the country.

Fresh customs data shows that March exports rose 11.5 percent from a year ago while imports fell 7.6 percent. Both figures beat estimates. Customs officials say that last year's low base number contributed to the rise in exports but the global economy remains fragile, pressuring China's foreign trade. However, China's improving manufacturing sector points to signs of recovery going into the second quarter.
