"Both sides agreed to eliminate barriers and surmount difficulties, and to continue to push forward the 'dual-track' approach -- disputes should be resolved peacefully through negotiation between the parties directly concerned, and China and ASEAN countries should work together to maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea. The 'dual-track' approach complies with the peaceful settlement of disputes through negotiation advocated by the UN Charter and the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea between China and ASEAN countries. This approach is the most practical and feasible way to properly solve the South China Sea issue," Wang said.
