As the first two ticket offices for the Olympics and Paralympics opened Monday. And with about 6-weeks to go till the cauldron is lit in Rio, sales have been slow compared to the previous Games in London.

This is one of the first two box offices where Brazilians or foreign visitors can get tickets for the Olympic and Paralympic games.

The offices opened Monday in two Rio shopping malls with almost no queues and a slow sales process, according to some buyers.

He bought the maximum tickets allowed per person-120.

According to the Rio 2016 organizers, 70 percent of the six million available tickets for the Olympics have been sold so far and only 24 percent of the 2.5 million Paralympic tickets.

Ticketing Director, Donovan Ferreti, agrees this is less than what was sold at this time in the 2012 London games, but says it is all about culture.

Concerns about the Zika virus, and Brazil's political and economic chaos may be contributing to sluggish ticket sales, but ticket prices shouldn't be a factor.

More than thirty box offices like this one will open in Rio. For online buyers who printed their tickets at home, to avoid scams organizers advise against posting them on social media showing the bar code.
