Euro 2016: Pedro unhappy with playing time for two-time champs

06-21-2016 16:04 BJT

Two-time defending champions Spain among the headliners, and La Roja have already assured themselves a spot in the last 16, but they still need a victory over Croatia to assure top spot and an easier opponent. Plenty is on the line for the Croats, who can usurp their opponents for top spot in the group, while also trying to move on from an ugly incident that marred their last contest.

Spain coming into their contest in good spirits. Two wins from two matches, but not everyone is happy. Pedro has lashed out at his lack of playing time.

The Chelsea man has managed just 8-minutes of time on the pitch, and that has seen him threaten to retire from international football.

His head coach says there is nothing to worry about -- and it is just a competitor showing his competitive streak.

Croatia can still overtake the defending champs for top spot in the pool with a victory -- but the Balkan nation have other worries on their mind. Their last match a 2-2 draw with the Czech republic was marred by fan violence as unruly supporters threw flares on the pitch.

As a result of their actions -- the Croatian F-A has been fined 100-thousand euros -- and more punishment could be on the way.

So the other match-up in Group D sees the Czech Republic battle bottom side Turkey. The Czechs could poach the other automatic qualifying berth should they beat Turkey and Croatia lose.

Over in Pool C, world champions Germany face Northern Ireland, and Die Manschaft needs just a draw to secure their passage to the next round. The Germans have looked a little lacklustre in their two matches, picking up a win and a draw.

And those results has the Northern Irish confident -- with their coach even going so far as to say that the 4-time world champs are flawed.

orthern Ireland are assured no worse than finishing third, but could take top spot by beating the Germans. And the remaining game in the pool has Poland facing Ukraine, and the Poles can assure their spot in the Last 16 by beating the already eliminated Ukrainians.
