In the women's open water swimming, China's Xin Xin got the best result ever for her country in the 10-kilometer event. But the race was not without controversy as Aurelie Muller of France was disqualified at the finish.

It was a big day for Charlotte Dujardin who retained her title in equestrian's individual dressage with the gold keeping Great Britain in second place in then medal table. She was then surprised to see a message from her boyfriend on the scoreboard asking, "Will you marry me?" The second day in a row there's been a proposal.
