We will walk our way over to the Rio Games -- where China's Liu Hong, the reigning world champion in the women's 20-km racewalk, was looking to add an Olympic title to her resume. And she would strut her stuff -- despite a stiff challenge from compatriot Lyu Xiuzhi.

Liu Hong finished fourth at both the Beijing and London Games. She is also two-time world champion, triumphing in 2011 and 2015. She is challenged by Mexico's Maria Guadalupe Gonzalez, who is in front for the most of the race. In a nail-biting finish, yes, racewalks can have that, she takes over the lead in the last 30 metres, and never looks back.

Liu Hong's long wait for an Olympic medal ends when the Chinese world record holder clocks in at one hour, 28 minutes, and 35 seconds to beat Gonzalez by a mere two seconds. Lyu Xiuzhi takes bronze, just seven seconds behind her teammate.

"I've been through a lot of difficulties. To be able to compete in Rio is a blessing for me. It's also a great opportunity for my career. I'm glad I seized it and I proved to the world I'm number one."

Sprinter leads Jamaica’s 4×100m relay team for ninth career gold

Usain Bolt, who already had two golds in Rio, would complete an unprecedented triple-triple, when he helps Jamaica power over the finish line first in the men's 4x100-meter relay. Japan grab silver in an Asian record 37.60 seconds. Canada claim bronze after the USA, who originally finished third were disqualified, due to a foul. China move up to fourth as a result.

Americans cross line first to repeat as Olympic champions

And in the women's 4x100 metre relay, the U-S, the last team to qualify after an appeal that led to a re-run, make the most of their opportunity -- coming in first in 41.01 seconds to repeat as champions. Jamaica would snag silver, while Great Britain take third.
