WPBSA China Championship: Guangzhou event scheduled from November 1 to 5

To the world of snooker now, and China which already hosts several events on the world tour, will now be host to another.

This November the city of Guangzhou will host the Evergrande China Championship. It will have the most prize money of any snooker event in the country, and will be the world A list snooker championship held here.

An announcement held in Guangzhou. The first-ever snooker event held in the city is slated to run from November 1st to 5th.

This year the prize money could be as much as 650,000 pounds, with the winner pocketing 200,000. The top 16 in the world rankings are eligible.

Newly-crowned world champion Mark Selby and runner-up Ding Junhui are ambassadors for the competition, and showed off some their skills at the press conference.

Ding said, "The event is different from other competitions. The rule stated that the top 16 in the world rankings will be qualified, and every year, the top 16 will participate at the tournament."
