Winter is coming, but the performance season in Beijing is just heating up. Now we take a look at the latest work by renowned Hong Kong-based theatrical director Lin Yihua, and also a special piano concert which drew a large audience to the Beijing Poly Theatre.

If possible, how would the great Sherlock Holmes solve mysteries in modern day China, such as how cellphones take up so much of people's time. That's the question renowned director Lin Yihua set out to answer in his theatrical work.

"This time, I want to tell the story in a modern perspective. And I think the audience may have a very different feeling and they can even be inspired by it," Lin said.

This special piano concert attracted a large audience.

Tian Jiaxin, a young Chinese pianist, staged a splendid performance in concerted effort with several world-renowned pianists, fully displaying the charisma of piano.

The young pianist, recognized as one of the most promising classical musicians from China, gave the audience a passionate and energetic solo performance.

The recital was followed by a fabulous ensemble in which Tian and famous professional pianists including Jeffrey Cohen, Wei Danwen, Bao Huiqiao and French conductor Philippe Entremont played some classical musical pieces.

The pianists played in both duets and quartets, giving a full-fledged experience to the charm of piano art.

The concert's diversity was spoken highly of by many members of the audience.

"I brought my daughter here to experience a concert performed by masters of the instrument. It was very shocking, just fantastic," said an audience member.
