Visiting Chinese President Xi Jinping has hailed the ties with Ecuador in a signed article. It was published in the leading Ecuadorian newspaper El Telegrafo ahead of his state visit to the Latin American nation.

President Xi says China views and grows its relations with Ecuador from a strategic and long-term perspective. He says bilateral cooperation is fruitful and mutually beneficial.
El Telegrafo's editor-in-chief said Ecuadorians will understand President Xi's thoughts better with the publication of his article.

"It's our honor to publish President Xi Jinping's signed article. China is a nation with thousands of years of history and is culturally diverse. It's a significant event for us to publish his article to Ecuadorians and even the whole world," said Orlando Perez, editor-in-chief.

"Most importantly, Ecuadorian readers can know about President Xi's thoughts. El Telegrafo has a high circulation. People have high expectations for this article and it will let readers truly understand President Xi's thoughts."

In his article titled "Build A New Bridge of China-Ecuador Friendship and Cooperation", President Xi mentions China's aid to Ecuador when it was hit by a major earthquake in April. He also pledges constant efforts to help those affected rebuild their homes and get their life back on track.

Editor-in-chief Perez says China's timely aid is appreciated.

He said, "Aid from China is very important. The earthquake struck on April 16th and relief goods from China arrived on chartered flights on the 19th. The tents and medicine arrived just in time for many victims. There are two hospitals being built by Chinese companies in the quake-hit area. They are remarkable and we would like to extend our gratitude to the Chinese government and the people of China."
