Producers, broadcasters and industry experts from China are gathered here in Beijing for the China Television Conference. The two-day event sees discussions on media and communication issues relating to television.

Topics include how television promotes cultural diversity and common understanding, links between democracy and television, the role of television in social, political and economic developments, and media convergence. This is one of many activities that mark the United Nations’ (UN) World Television Day, annually observed on November 21st.

The day recognizes the role television plays in presenting the issues that affect people. It's also to renew the commitment of governments, organizations and individuals to support the development of television media in providing unbiased information about important issues and events that affect society.
