Pakistani expert: U.S. war in Afghanistan proves pointless

The twenty-year-long U.S. war in Afghanistan, the longest war in U.S history, proves pointless as Washington could not usher in stability and peace to the Middle East country, a Pakistani expert said in a recent interview. Farhat Asif, president of the Pakistan-based Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies, deems the hasty evacuation of U.S. troops from Afghanistan as irresponsible, since it is causing another humanitarian crisis in the war-torn country and could lead to an adverse impact on the regional situation.
