Global discussion during the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP15) is of great importance to tackle the issue of biodiversity loss, while human needs to protect and respect the nature, in case the Earth is tipped over a breakage point, a United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) official said in an interview.

Beate Trankmann, UNDP resident representative in China, said it's of great significance for global leaders to discuss biodiversity conservation in southwest China's Yunnan Province where she attended the opening ceremony of the COP15 to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity. She commended China's efforts to promote energy transformation.

She also noted that Yunnan is the place with the richest biodiversity in China, and she hopes to stay there for a few more days to experience more of its beautiful scenery and wildlife, adding that she was fascinated by the migration stories of wild Asian elephants in the province.
