The National Aquatics Center (the Water Cube), which was converted to the 'Ice Cube', is the best ever venue for curling events, said the President of the World Curling Federation Kate Caithness in Beijing. On the sidelines of the 2021 World Wheelchair Curling Championship, a test event for Beijing 2022, Caithness praised the venue and recalled that 13 years ago she served on the Paralympic Games Committee to present flowers to medalists at the Water Cube. The venue's swimming pool was transformed into an ice pitch to hold the 2021 World Wheelchair Curling Championship and upcoming Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics. She said the venues and related facilities for Beijing 2022 have impressed her and that Beijing can host a successful Winter Olympics. Meanwhile, there's huge potential to promote curling in China, Caithness said that she will lead the World Curling Federation to develop closer cooperations with the country.
