The director-general of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) said that the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics remains committed to achieving carbon neutrality and believes in a successful event when speaking during an interview. Francesco La Camera said the IRENA and China have cooperated and already yielded positive results in the energy structure transformation, tackling climate change and achieving green and low-carbon development. He said in recent years, IRENA has worked with Zhangjiakou, one of the host cities of the Winter Olympics, as they see it as an opportunity to test the operational feasibility of carbon neutrality amid large-scale sporting events.
