Danish scholar: NATO's eastward expansion leads to Ukraine crisis

Danish scholar Jan Oberg attributed the current crisis in Ukraine to North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)'s breaches of promise of not expanding further east, noting it is wrong and should never happen. He pointed out that the leaders of NATO member states have promised that NATO would not expand eastward, and as a continuation of the Cold War mindset, NATO's eastward expansion has broken the commitments and caused the current conflicts between Russia and Ukraine.
