Singapore was the first country among the 10 Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN) members to publicly express support for the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) because it saw the potential for win-win cooperation for the region by facilitating China's integration into the regional bloc in an open, sustainable and mutually beneficial way, Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has said in a recent interview. Lee said that the BRI is a good way for a growing, prospering China to contribute to regional development.
