Tobias Hirsch, postdoctoral researcher at Fudan University presented his professional insights on two literate societies. He believed that the early Chinese society and classical Greek society were both highly literate societies and that literature was a main cultural factor that hold together these societies. As for difference, he said that, "A big difference is that the social structure in early Chinese society was maybe more hierarchical and the society more unified where in ancient Greece, we find different city states with their own constitution, which were independent from each other."
