China Media Group (CMG) launched a showcase of Chinese film and television programs in Malaysia's capital on Saturday, marking a significant step in cultural exchanges between the two nations. Ten acclaimed CMG productions will air on Malaysian mainstream media platforms through June, offering audiences a window into China's modern development, cultural heritage and societal transformations.
The initiative was inaugurated with video addresses by CMG President Shen Haixiong, and Wong Chun Wai, chairman of Malaysia's national news agency Bernama. Both leaders underscored the enduring friendship between China and Malaysia, emphasizing the role of media in fostering mutual understanding.
These programs will help Malaysian viewers learn about China's poverty alleviation experience and the warmth of its people, Shen said, noting that the exchange aligns with broader goals of regional stability and cooperation.
Wong echoed this sentiment, praising the selection of documentaries and series for their portrayal of China's contemporary vitality and cultural depth. These works will deepen Malaysians' connection to China's stories, he said, adding that such collaborations strengthen bilateral ties rooted in centuries of shared history.
The programs, set to broadcast on platforms including Bernama, Asian Satellite Television and Radio, Al-Hijrah TV, and 8TV, span genres from historical documentaries to aerial scenery series.
