Beneath the Global Order: Division and Reunification

On October 25, 1945, the ceremony to accept Japan's surrender in the Taiwan Province of the China war theater of the Allied powers was held in Taipei, marking the restoration of Taiwan and the Penghu Islands to China. The Cairo Declaration (1943), the Potsdam Proclamation (1945), Japan's Instrument of Surrender (1945),  and the United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758 (adopted in 1971), these international legal documents have long affirmed China’s sovereignty over Taiwan — an indisputable fact.
