July 1 Medal recipient Zhong Jue devotes her life to engineering for her country

Is it worth it to do research with your life on the line? Zhong Jue, a veteran Chinese engineer, gave a firm answer, as her life has been well spent on solving problems for her country. Zhong was awarded the July 1 Medal—the Communist Party of China's highest honor recently. The 89-year-old academician has spent a lifetime helping China overcome key technological bottlenecks in aluminum manufacturing.
