Liang Ning - world famous Chinese Mezzo-Soprano

Mezzo-soprano Liang Ning is the first Chinese to perform at the La Scala Opera Theater in Milan and the Metropolitan Opera in New York. As one of the brightest young mezzo-sopranos on today's operatic scene, Liang Ning has already been heard in many of the world`s leading opera houses.Liang Ning received a Master Degree in Music from the Julliard School in New York and is a member of the American Opera Center.


She is a winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Competition, the Mirjam Helin Competition, the Musicians Emergency Competition, the Rosa Ponselle International Vocal Competition, and the Luciano Pavarotti Competition.Her European career started with the Hamburg State Opera and Vienna State Opera. She has sung Idamantes in Idomeneo at Teatro La Scala where she also sang Suzuki in Madame Butterfly. Her debut at the Metropolitan Opera in New York was as Octavian in Der Rosen Kavalier, which was telecast worldwide.After spending twenty years abroad, Liang Ning has come back to China to begin her teaching career. With the goal of contributing to China's opera education, she is now teaching at China Conservatory, after first teaching at the Central Conservatory of Music.
