President Xi Jinping has left Washington DC after attending the fourth Nuclear Security Summit. Earlier he delivered a speech at the opening plenary of the summit. He made five pledges to ensure terrorists cannot get their hands on nuclear material to build the ultimate weapon.

China is a nuclear power in both the military and civilian sphere, and President Xi Jinping recognizes that the recent threat of terrorists getting their hands on nuclear material is going up not down.

"Looking around the world, the global landscape is going through profound changes unseen in the past. New threats and challenges keep emerging in the security field. The root causes of terrorism are far from being removed. Nuclear terrorism remains a grave threat to international security," Xi said.
