One of the two black box flight recorders from the crashed EgyptAir flight MS 8-0-4 has been repaired.

The plane was en route from Paris to Cairo when it plunged into the Mediterranean last month, killing all sixty-six people on board.

A terror attack has not been ruled out. Investigators hope the recorders will reveal the cause of the crash.

France's aviation safety agency says the aircraft transmitted automated messages, indicating smoke in the cabin and a fault in the flight control unit, minutes before it disappeared.

Egyptian investigators confirmed the aircraft had made a 90-degree left turn, followed by a three-hundred-and-sixty-degree turn to the right, before hitting the sea.

The black boxes were sent to France for repairs, and will be returned to Cairo for analysis.
