Her opponent, Alison Riske of the USA, is now serving and she would take control early on, grabbing this point with a forehand.

The American looked fantastic in the semi-finals when she upset second seeded Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova in three sets, and she smacks another forehand winner that right down the line.

But Peng fights back later in the first set and forces it to a tie-breaker. The Chinese claims this point with a smash, and later wins the first frame.

A former U.S. Open semi-finalist, Peng continues to press in the second, and Riske seems all out of answers. The Chinese would save 10 of the 12 break points she faces, and goes on to take the second 6-2, for a straight sets victory in one hour and 46 minutes.

Later on Sunday, Peng and her American partner Christina McHale would win the doubles final, beating Xu Yifan and Magda Linette 7-6, 6-0 to win the title and complete a great day of work for the 30 year old Peng.

"For me, it seems like a whole new start for my tennis career, and I'm going in a very good direction," said Peng Shuai.
