South Korean prosecutors have raided Samsung's offices in Seoul, as part of a probe over a political scandal involving President Park Geun-hye and her confidant Choi Soon-sil. Yonhap News Agency reported that prosecutors are investigating whether Samsung improperly provided financial assistance to Choi Soon-sil's daughter.

Ahead of the raid operation,  prosecutors also questioned two senior officials of the Federation of Korean Industries, a domestic lobby group for conglomerates that includes Samsung. President Park alledgedly held closed-door meetings with seven conglomerate chiefs last year.

Prosecutors reportedly found an evidence that President Park probably ordered them to make donations to the Mir and K-Sports foundations, or cultural and sports funds. The funds are presumably controlled by her confidant Choi Soon-sil. Park has insisted that the companies voluntarily financed the two foundations.
